Photographs which formed a display in Hadley Highstone Memorial Hall in the 1990s are exhibited again by Barnet Museum.The display was put together by Rob Brimson, Lyn Brimson and Jane Downey. The early photos are a record of times gone (but not necessarily forgotten) in Hadley and Barnet. For the last 50+ years of his life however, he lived in London, and for most of these years, he lived in Barnet. When he retired, he was able to focus on his main love of art.Renos worked in many mediums &ndash; oil, prints,watercolours, and fine drawing. He lived in Hadley Wood for over 20 years and during that period worked tirelessly for the poor, needy and destitute people of Victorian and Edwardian England and many other countries. He was driven to do this by his passionate Christian faith and conviction that the mark of salvation was to serve others so that t [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph"><span style="color:rgb(42, 42, 42)">On Friday 16th March 2018 a talk was given for St Paul's Church, Hadley Wood by John Hall about General William Booth, Founder of the Salvation Army, and his remarkable life and times. He lived in Hadley Wood for over 20 years and during that period worked tirelessly for the poor, needy and destitute people of Victorian and Edwardian England and many other countries. He was driven to do this by his passionate Christian faith and conviction that the mark of salvation was to serve others so that they also might be saved.</span><br /><span style="color:rgb(42, 42, 42)">A recording of the talk with archive film, photographs and a clip of General Booth speaking can be accessed on the link below.
