Public transport

A number of local buses stop within easy walking distance of the museum, including at the stop directly outside our front door! Below are details of the various bus stops:

• Displays on three floors (stairs)
• Shop with books, cards and postcards, historic maps and gifts
• Free children’s quizzes
• Extensive archive (copies can usually be made for a small charge)
• Group visits outside opening hours
• Parking: there is a multi-storey car park in the Spires Shopping centre and a small public car park behind the museum in the Court House Gardens (down Manor Close, first entrance on your left after the museum, coming from the eastern end of Wood Street)
• Unfortunately we do not have a public toilet
